The purpose of the Clarifier is to recover a maximum amount of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) from the CPO and its insoluble Non-Oily Solids (NOS) and produce a finished CPO that is both clean and dry. The Finished CPO should have a dirt content of not more than 0.02% and a moisture content of not more than 0.01%. The Clarifier consists of an inner boiling compartment surrounded by an outer settling compartment. The CPO is boiled vigorously with water before being allowed to settle in the inner compartment. Once settled it is decanted into the bottom of the outer settling compartment. From here it is allowed to overflow into a Heat Exchanger / Dryer before transferring via a Calibrated Tank to the preferred method of storage or packaging.
